Hi guys :)

having proplem again.

When i am at the stage where you are "installing the Sources" i am told to execute the command: "emerge gentoo-sources"

However i get an error:
Code:
ARCH is not set... are you missing the /etc/make.profile symlink

(it was a 2 line error but i only remembered the first line)

Can anyone help me with the continual?

EDIT:
this is the livecd

When i go to the /etc folder, i can clearly see the make.profile file there.

However, i remember that the second error line was something along these lines:

"If not, then do you have the tree(some word with tree inside) installed?"

:)

The portage tree includes information to build all available packages in Gentoo, and it includes the profiles directory (and some other stuff).

The emerge command cannot really function without the portage tree. That is probably why you are getting this error.

Installing the portage tree is done with the "emerge --sync" command, or by using a portage snapshot.
