The problem: I'm using RC_PARALLEL_STARTUP="yes" in /etc/conf.d/rc. Now, my net.eth0 service starts, but ntp-client starts parallel with it, thinking the dependency is allready fulfilled. Ntp-client fails because it has no network access, and a second later net.eth0 is up.

The hack: Add a "sleep 2s" in the failing script. That way, eth0 will be up when the sleep command ends.

The long-term solution: Shouldn't portage consider the net dependency fulfilled AFTER net.eth0 has run; not WHILE net.eth0 is running?
