Code:
localhost init.d # /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
 * Caching service dependencies ...
 *  Service 'exim' already provided by 'mta'!;
 *  Not adding service 'postfix'...                              [ ok ]
 * Stopping apache2 ...                                          [ ok ]
 * Starting apache2 ...                                          [ ok ]
localhost init.d #

Is there any way to get these lines to go away?

They've really been getting on my nerves lately; I used to use postfix, but I'm now running exim4.

It sees that it needs an mta, so it tires to start postfix; but it then sees that exim4 is already there as an mta.

My question is, why is it even trying to start postfix if postfix isn't even installed anymore.

Code:
rc-update del postfix default

Removes the service from the startup list...

Heh, I did that ages ago. Hers some extra proof:
Code:
localhost ~ # rc-update del postfix default
 * postfix not found in any of the specified runlevels.
localhost ~ # for x in boot default network single; do rc-status $x | grep post; done
localhost ~ #

I think you need to delete the file from /etc/init.d/

/etc/init.d is CONFIG_PROTECT'ed, so things don't get deleted from there when you unmerge things.
