Hi all,

Evertime I emerge -uaD world mono upgrades and then the next time I do emerge -uaD world it downgrades. It keeps on bouncing between versions for some reason. I am not using mono much at the moment but have .net on my long "todo" list. Its quite annoying though with the version ping-pong. I dont think it because of mono releases but something stuffed with my portage.

Any one got ideas?

This is a known portage bug / missing feature. It means one package you're using specifically needs an older version of mono, but portage doesn't notice this when it's already installed. As a workaround, you can mask the newer versions in /etc/portage/package.mask.

Please see the FAQ GF22: Circular upgrades and downgrades of a package. Follow up to https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-351416-highlight-.html if necessary.
