I ran through the installation and on first reboot I got this:
Code:

fsk.ext3: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/ROOT
/dev/ROOT
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem.  If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock is corrupt and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
   e2fsck -b 8193 <device>

*Filesystem couldn't be fixed :(

It then asked for my root password for maintenance and dumped me to a bash shell, but I don't know how much functionality I really have.

The base layout for hda is this:

/dev/hda1 ext2 /boot
/dev/hda2 swap swap
/dev/hda3 ext3 /root

There is a chance that this is due to the fact that when I ran fdisk initially, I forgot to set the /dev/hda1 as bootable (a, then 1), and I went back and redid it. It booted fine (and I have access to some programs, like nano), and so I am posting my fstab:

Code:

/dev/BOOT     /boot     ext2     noauto,noatime     1 2
/dev/ROOT     /           ext3     noatime                0 1
/dev/SWAP     none     swap    sw                        0 0
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0     /mnt/cdrom   iso9660   noauto,ro      0 0

none              /proc     proc     defaults                0 0

none              /dev/shm  tmpfs          defaults      0 0

Additionally, here is the partition layout according to fdisk
Code:

/dev/hda1     1     5         40131     83     Linux
/dev/hda2     6    68     506047+    82     Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/hda3   69  2431  18980797+  83      Linux

I don't know what else would be necessary to know, but if anyone could help me resolve this error, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.
