I had a sudden system crash, and after a reboot I kept getting these messages whenever I try to run, say, apache2, mysql, or any other tool that links against libstdc++:

Code:
root@tigger ~ # /etc/init.d/apache2 start
 * Apache2 has detected a syntax error in your configuration files:
Syntax error on line 6 of /etc/apache2/modules.d/70_mod_php.conf:
Cannot load /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp4.so into server: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The same with Python, and ebuild etc are written in Python:

Code:
root@tigger ~ # emerge sync
/usr/bin/python: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Running emerge with strace tells me that it tries to load that library from /lib/ but it's not there. Is it supposed to be there anyway? I'd say not, so perhaps my path is screwed, but I don't know. As a temporary "fix" I set a link:

Code:
root@tigger ~ # ln -s /usr/lib/gcc-lib/powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu/3.4.4/libstdc++.so.6.0.3 /lib/libstdc++.so.6

and the system seems to work okish. But I don't have a good feeling with that, so where should I look to get the libs and paths correct again? Reemerge and build them? Eew. Perhaps there is a magic powertool that I don't know of? :-)

Any help and hints appreciated!
Jens
