You might find the examples in /etc/make.conf.examples interesting.

I have a Centrino in my Laptop. Below is part of my make.conf file

Quote:
CFLAGS="O2 -march=pentium-m -pipe -formit-fram-pointer"
#CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686 -march=pentium-m -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
#CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86"
MAKEOPTS="-j2"

I have the 2 commented out CFLAG lines to use for some stuff that compiles better under that set. But...... The point of the CFLAGS is GCC 3.4 supports pentium-m flag the GCC 3.3 DOESNT. Also you will notice that it says pentium3. The Centrino is based on the Pentium 3 core NOT the Pentium 4. If you compile for the P4 bad things will happen.

Good Luck. I love my Gentoo/Centrino Laptop. But it takes skill and patience to get it running right.
