Whenever I log in (as any user) it gives me this:

Code:

c_olin@bluebox ~ $ su
Password:
configuration error - unknown item 'FAILLOG_ENAB' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'LASTLOG_ENAB' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'MOTD_FILE' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'FTMP_FILE' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'ENV_ROOTPATH' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'PASS_MIN_LEN' (notify administrator)
configuration error - unknown item 'CHFN_AUTH' (notify administrator)
bluebox c_olin #

Any ideas what this means?

Have you recently run dispatch-conf or etc-update to update configs since your latest updates?

from man dispatch-conf
Code:
DESCRIPTION
dispatch-conf  is  designed  to be run after merging new packages in order to see if there are updates to the configuration files.
If a new configuration file will overwrite an old one, dispatch-conf will prompt the user for a decision about how to resolve  the
discrepancy.   Advantages  of dispatch-conf include easy rollback (changes to config files are stored either using patches or rcs)
and the ability to automatically update config files that the user has never modified or that differ from the current version only
in CVS cruft or white space.

dispatch-conf will check all directories in the CONFIG_PROTECT variable.  All config files found in CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK will auto-
matically be updated for you by dispatch-conf.  See make.conf(5) for more information.

from man etc-update
Code:
DESCRIPTION
etc-update  is  supposed  to  be run after merging a new package to see if there are updates to the configuration files.  If a new
configuration file will override an old one, etc-update will prompt the user for a decision.

etc-update will check all directories in the CONFIG_PROTECT variable.  All config files found in CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK will automat-
ically be updated for you by etc-update.  See make.conf(5) for more information.

Both these tools do the same job. I personally prefer dispatch-conf as it can be configured to use rcs / patches and cvs to help with managing your configurations...
