Hi all.

I'm running gentoo on an ibook G4 800, and since broadcom doesn't want to release the specs of airport extreme, I've bought a d-link dwl-122 usb wifi key.
The problem is that I'm having a lot of kernel oops when using the card.
Sometime, it happens when I start wlan, sometimes when I use the aircrack tools.

My version of linux-wlan-ng is the 0.2.1_pre23. (I have tried the pre20 too)
I have tested 2 kernels : vanilla-sources-2.6.12-(don't remember the release), and now gentoo-sources-2.6.12-r6. (same issues for both)

Moreover, when I start wlan, I can see those messages :

moon elshaa # /etc/init.d/wlan start
* Starting WLAN devices ...
message=lnxreq_ifstate
ifstate=fwload
resultcode=success
Reading S-record file /etc/wlan//prism2_ru.hex...

moon elshaa #

My second question is "Are the warning message normal ?"
Do you have that messages when starting wlan ?

And finally, if you run an ibook G4 or whatever ppc computer (I think that doens't matter), and that you have no problem with you d-link dwl-122, please tell me which kernel you are running, and if you can, put a link to your kernel configuration.

Thanks a lot.

I have also been experiencing kernel oops when using the DWL-122. Not every time I use the card, but often. I've tried both loading the module on boot and booting completely, then loading the module. In both cases, when I do have system halts, they happen on starting the wlan service.

As for the messages on starting wlan... they appear as well.

System:
Powerbook6,8
G4 7447A
gentoo-sources-2.6.12-r7
linux-wlan-ng-0.2.1_pre23

I haven't put too much thought into it since the AE is up through MOL. I'll post my messages later.

I have also been getting an intermitant opps since i switched to 2.6.12. Kernel 2.6.10 is much more solid for the dwl-122.
Also the error messages appear the usual state of things for this card.. I got something similar on all kernels I've used it on.

Does anyone have the DWL-122 running smoothly on an newish iBook G4. I've had nothing but problem with this for months. Today I've went back and forth with it working and not working, and I'm really starting to get sick on it. All I want is some type of wireless for my iBook...

Any suggestions on how to make this thing work?

I started that thread :lol:

I got sick of the DWL-122, and bought a DWL-122G-b1 and am using it with the ural-linux drivers.
