Hi, I'm trying to install Gentoo from stage1, I have sucessfully bootstrapped the system, I guess, after the "scripts/bootstrap.sh -f" there is no congratulations message or something telling me about errors, so I have assume that this step was sucessfully acomplished.

Here is the problem, when I try to "emerge --emptytree system" the complilation faults with the next message:

Code:

cd misc && make DESTDIR="" all

BTW: there is any way to get all the emerge --emptytree system output?

locales.build file:
Code:

I got the same error with another package (fsck I think) after a successful bootstrap for a stage1 install about an hour ago. I just reformatted and did a stage3 (my partition table got trashed by the GLI installer :x ).

You did run "scripts/bootstrap.sh" without the -f parameter, right? When you pass -f to the bootstrap script, it only fetches sources. Without running it again minus the -f, no actual building (bootstrapping) will be done.

Probably the easiest way is to enable portage's logging facility using the PORT_LOGDIR variable in /etc/make.conf . Framebuffer scrollback (shift+pgup) is only good for so much.

As a sidenote, /etc/locales.build has no effect until you reach the emptytree merge ("emerge -e system"); it's not used during bootstrapping.
