I have a PPC with Mac OS X on 1 hd and Gentoo on a second hd...

Code:
 livecd / # yabootconfig -b /dev/hda1
yaboot is the Linux Loader for PowerPC.  yabootconfig sets up your system to boot directly
from your hard disk, without the need for a boot CD, floppy or a network boot.
Install yaboot bootstrap on /dev/hda1 to boot Linux from /dev/hdb3? [Yes]
Creating a simple /etc/yaboot.conf...
yabootconfig: Cannot find a kernel, please locate one
Enter path to a kernel image: /boot/kernel-2.6.12
Enter path to an initrd image (hit Enter for none):
yabootconfig: Could not determine necessary information, aborting...
yabootconfig: Are you using chroot yabootconfig instead of yabootconfig --chroot ?
livecd / #

Is there a way to do this? and what is this error?

I left the chroot environment and it got further... now I get this:
Code:
livecd ~ # yabootconfig --chroot /mnt/gentoo --root /dev/hdb3 --boot /dev/hda1
yaboot is the Linux Loader for PowerPC.  yabootconfig sets up your system to boot directly
from your hard disk, without the need for a boot CD, floppy or a network boot.

yabootconfig: Cannot find a kernel, please locate one
Enter path to a kernel image: /mnt/gentoo/boot/kernel-2.6.12
Enter path to an initrd image (hit Enter for none):
Running mkofboot to make the disk bootable...
mkofboot: Warning: `nvsetenv' could not be found, nvram will not be updated
hformat: /dev/hda1: volume is smaller than 800K (Invalid argument)
mkofboot: HFS filesystem creation failed!
livecd ~ #

I'm lost now...
