This is already fixed, emerge sync and try again. You have -python in your use flags, which broke the build, see:

emerge of Openoffice2 on my dual 1.8 powermac failed (32 bit userland/64 bit kernel).

I did
Code:

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Any pointers on what to do? Also is java really needed for openoffice2?

I've never had any problems compiling openoffice 1.1.x

I'd keep java on, it's used more extensively than in previous OO.o versions.

Ok, from the thread above I did "export JAVA_COMPILER=NONE" and it compiled OK.
I wonder if everybody has to has to do this ?

On a postive note it seems quicker to open

Btw, my complile time
Code:
real    563m58.362s
user    450m41.955s
sys     97m45.756s
i.e around 9 and half hours with 1.5 GB memory

I played briefly with it. I managed to crash it a few times but it does some sort of recovery mechanism in place if this happens. Looking further it crashed when trying to invoke file->wizards_fax (for example). It stopped crashing when did export JAVA_COMPILER=NONE. Can anybody explain briefly, why I need the export?

You can find a binary package for openoffice-2.0.0 for ppc at ftp://ftp.kfpc.de/pub/
Please note that the language is german only! Sorry for that. The build had already run for about 16 hours when I noticed that.
Code:
OpenOffice.org binary-package
OS: Gentoo-GNU/Linux
Architecture: ppc
Package: app-office/openoffice
Version: 2.0.0
Language: german
USE-flags: +curl -eds -gnome +gtk +java +kde +ldap +mozilla -nas +xml2 +zlib
Built on an iBook G3

INSTALLATION:
Put the tbz2 file into $PKGDIR (normally ${PORTDIR}/packages)
echo "app-office/openoffice +curl -eds -gnome +gtk +java +kde +ldap +mozilla -nas +xml2 +zlib" >> /etc/portage/package.use
emerge -k openoffice

btw: my compiletime was:
Code:
* app-office/openoffice

     Fri Oct 28 16:20:30 2005 --> app-office/openoffice-2.0.0
       merge time: 1 day, 6 hours, 13 minutes, and 34 seconds.

using a iBook G3 700MHz with 640MB Ram.

Hey there,

at first I tried to compile Ooo2 normally, but I got an error after several hours. After that I tried the trick with "export JAVA_COMPILER=NONE" and it compiled. The problem is that I got an error if I want to start any of the Ooo2 components.
Code:
rafael@goethe ~ $ oowriter2
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/openoffice/program/libvcl680lp.so: file too short

Does anybody know where this problem comes from?

Here is my compile time btw:
Code:
real    1296m40.015s
user    776m25.906s
sys     132m19.926s

So about 21 hours and 30 minutes on an iBook G3 800Mhz with 768 MB RAM.

Best regards!
