Hi.

I have installed OSX and gentoo on my iBook. Now, I'm trying to get dual booting to work. I have partitioned my hard drive as follows:

hda1-hda3: OSX partitions.
hda4: bootstrap partition
hda5: swap
hda6: /
hda7: /home/user

If I add "macosx=hda3" to yaboot.conf and run "ybin -v" nothing changes. I only get the linux option when tabing in the yaboot prompt.

I read in http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-faq.xml that I should let linux be on the first partitions to make dual boot working. Is dual booting impossible with OSX first?

If it is impossible, I'd like som advice on copying the systems to another drive, reformat and then copy the systems back. In OSX I think an "image" will do it, but how do I do with gentoo? I dont want to reinstall....

Yes, I ALWAYS had osx first, and it works, so don't worry.

Even though there is a contradiction in your reply it sounds like what I wanted to hear. When your not in a hurry, could I make you paste your yaboot.conf?

Or could someone else with a working dual booting system (maybe with OSX before Linux on the drive) do it? It's pretty annoying having to overwrite the MBR to shift between gentoo and OSX (I still have some basic trouble with X on the gentoo installation).

Thanx to both of you.

Looking at your config file I recognized a small error in my file. Now it works!

Thank you once again! Philip.
