Hi

I'm installing Gentoo on my powerbook for the first time, so I'm a little bit confused about some things.

I have a pcmcia orinoco wifi card. I tested it on Debian on the same powerbook, and its device was eth1.

Now on gentoo I can't find the appropiate device, can you help me? Maybe I need to recompile my kernel???

I used this config for building the kernel (I only added firewire support).

Thanks!

Does you add the appropiate pcmcia-card support in wireless section of network support? And did you have pcmcia with yanta-socket modularized and pcmcia-cd installed?

I recompiled the kernel with all these options and installed pcmcia-cs, I think everything is ok now. I only have a yaboot issue, but I'll close this thread now.

Thank you!!!

I still can't use it, when I solved my yaboot problem and tested the card, it didn't work.

I have pcmcia, yenta_socket, pcmcia_core and hermes as modules. Also hermes pcmcia card suport, at the wireless lan section. Also installed pcmcia-cs. Also emerged wireless-tools.

My /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel2.6 file:
Code:
sungem
snd-powermac
snd-mixer-oss
i2c-dev
ide-cd
bluetooth
hermes
sg
orinoco_cs

Trying to check if it's detected:
Code:
bender ~ # dmesg | grep orinoco
orinoco 0.14alpha2 (David Gibson ...
orinoco_cs 0.14alpha2(David ...
bender ~ # iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions
eth0     no wireless extensions
