I can't start X... the screen becomes black and the computer crashes!!

The Gentoo Wiki link isn't relevant here, it's for the fglrx which is x86 only. Have you followed the directions in the PPC FAQ and tried to generate your X.org configuration file with Xorgautoconfig?

Your xorg.conf says it was generated by xorgconfig

That should have been an application called Xorgautoconfig;

emerge Xorgautoconfig then run Xorgautoconfig, then edit the xorg.conf to enable use with an apple panel....

Have you read the second xorgconf I've posted?? It's under the Xorgconfig.. and it's generated by Xorgautoconfig..

Looks like its having problems with the driver ... perhaps try with latest beta xorg.

Is the graphics built in or a separate card? if separate you could have a conflict with the base address of another card.

I don't know this hardware, so can't really help.

I change UseFBdev false to true and GDM starts!!

(if I launch startx it loads a strange graphic desktop.... I've to work on it!!)

I guess this is just an FYI...
I'm on an intel system...rage 128...etc
I was also getting
Code:
rage(0): No DFP detected
setting Option UseFBDev to true fixed it here too...

Sorry for bumping this but im trying to get a cube working too. can you post the out put of
