This took me an hour to figure out, but I got it to work so maybe someone else wants to as well =)

First you install WASTE - from waste.sourceforge.net or whereever you found it...
Setup waste: currently you have to install it on windows to get your encryption keys (I have not tryed "wastesrv_admin" yet.) then copy over your Default.pr? files to linux makeing them all lowercase in the process...

so you can do this, you need default.pr0 to have your password and save password set to true (do this when you install on windows) then just use this little script:

/etc/init.d/waste
Code:

#!/sbin/runscript

WASTE_OPTS="-d /root/runwaste/waste.log"

depend() {
  need net
}

start() {
  ebegin "Starting WASTE P2P Service"
  start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --exec /root/runwaste/wastesrv_new -- ${WASTE_OPTS}
  eend $?
}
stop() {
  ebegin "Stopping WASTE P2P Service"
  killall -9 wastesrv_new
  eend $?
}

Note where I installed it at =P
(/root/runwaste)
I also tried compiling it many ways as this Gentoo box was PPC so waste did some odd stuff BUT the application seems to work so far... thats why the file is named: wastesrv_new instead of just wastesrv.

Besides running it as root, saving your private password in a file and who knows what other kind of bad security practices I have shown you, this does work... on my machine.

I hope this helps someone in the future =)
