Hi, as I'm trying to emerg xfce4 on a clean gentoo installation, portage also tries to isntall xorg, but after maybe 20 minutes of compiling, it terminates the process. The last few lines are these:

Code:
...

rm -f geometry.dir
LD_LIBARY_PATH=../../../exports/lib XLOCALEDIR=../../../exports/lib/locale ../../../exports/bin/xkbcomp -lfhlpR -o geometry.dir '*'
make[5]: *** [geometry.dir] illegal instruction
make[5]: *** Deleting file 'geometry.dir'
make[5]: Leaving directory '/var/tmp/portage/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r2/work/xc/programs/xkbcomp/geometry'
make[4]: *** [all] Error 2
make[4]: Leaving dir... blabla
make[3]: *** [all] Error 2
... and so on until make[1] ...
make: *** [World] Error2

!!! ERROR: x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r2 failed.
!!! Function build, Line 971, Exitcode 2
!!! make World failed

...

So what now?

Thx a lot

Hi!

You've taken the wrong stage, i.e. the wrong architecture (better: subarchitecture) --> maybe i686 but only i386 would work or something similiar...

Cheers, R.

I chose i686, and it's an Athlon 950mhz, and I've done a Stage 3 Installation, but how do you mean, that I've "taken" the wrong stage?

Uhm, there's pretty much written there, quite much, to just copy it by hand :?

How do I get it out of my Linuxbox, or do you only need to now a certain part of it? Maybe this helps:

CBUILD="i386-pc-linux-gnu"
CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -03 -mcpu=i686 -pipe"
CHOST="i386-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -03 -mcpu=i686 -pipe"
