I've just done an 'emerge sync' followed by a 'emerge -uDav world' and the Gimp update fails to build.
It gets to the configure stage and bombs out with:

Code:
checking for XML::Parser... configure: error: XML::Parser perl module is required for intltool

!!! Please attach the config.log to your bug report:
!!! /var/tmp/portage/gimp-2.2.8-r1/work/gimp-2.2.8/config.log

!!! ERROR: media-gfx/gimp-2.2.8-r1 failed.
!!! Function econf, Line 485, Exitcode 0
!!! econf failed
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

I'm going to try emerging the module and see if that makes any difference.

Ok, this is strange.

It turns out that I already had that module installed. I re-emerged it anyway and now the compile is proceeding as normal.

How very odd.

Had the same issue. This fix worked here, too. Thanks Mr Wonka... wouldn't have thought to do that :D

Go figure. Same fix worked for me: emerge XML-Parser (its [R]) , emerge gimp . No problema.

This is the same method I used to use with WindowsNT service packs after they trashed my system. Just try re-installing it over and over and over, just hoping it worked. Never did in that case, though.
