Hi all! i have a little probrem with my computer.

1º) I use kde 3.4.1 and the programas run in my languaje(spanish) but gtk and gnome programas don't work in spanish, only if i eject the program in konsole. I think than the problem is glibc becouse i modify the file /etc/locales.build and re.emerge glibc but the locale don't change:

Code:
Templar linux # cat /etc/locales.build
es_ES/ISO-8859-1
es_ES@euro/ISO-8859-15
es_ES.UTF-8/UTF-8
Templar linux # locale -a
aa_DJ
aa_ER
aa_ER@saaho
aa_ET
af_ZA
am_ET
...
zh_HK.utf8
zh_SG
zh_SG.gbk
zh_TW
zh_TW.euctw
zh_TW.utf8
zu_ZA
zu_ZA.utf8
# cat /home/moxilo/.bashrc
if [[ $- != *i* ]]; then
        # Shell is non-interactive.  Be done now
        return
fi

source /etc/entorno
...
# cat /etc/entorno
#!/bin/bash
export LANG=es_ES@euro
export LC_CTYPE="es_ES@euro"
export LC_NUMERIC="es_ES@euro"
export LC_TIME="es_ES@euro"
export LC_COLLATE="es_ES@euro"
export LC_MONETARY="es_ES@euro"
export LC_MESSAGES="es_ES@euro"
export LC_PAPER="es_ES@euro"
export LC_NAME="es_ES@euro"
export LC_ADDRESS="es_ES@euro"
export LC_TELEPHONE="es_ES@euro"
export LC_MEASUREMENT="es_ES@euro"
export LC_IDENTIFICATION="es_ES@euro"
export LC_ALL=es_ES@euro

2º)The second problem is the touchpad. I download the files appletouch-0.08 and atp-0.05 but touchpad don't work:

Code:
Templar src # cd atp-0.05/
Templar atp-0.05 # ls
atp.c  atp.ko  atp.mod.c  atp.mod.o  atp.o  Documentation  Makefile

Templar appletouch-0.08 # emerge -pv synaptics

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild   R   ] x11-misc/synaptics-0.14.3  -dlloader 0 kB

Total size of downloads: 0 kB
Templar appletouch-0.08 #

Powernowd don't work fine, it work but always work in 746mhz(i think than is this value a im not sure if is 46 or other number, but sure 7XX mhz). It always work 746(the same if i compile, the number of mhz is 768 never up or down).

Thx for all X)

I can't help much with your localisation/Spanish problems. I use Japanese, and that's working fine. On the other hand, I don't use KDE.

As for appletouch/synaptics, these work on my Powerbook6,8. Did you remember to configure Xorg to use the new drivers? In case you haven't, here's my xorg.conf. (You might want to modify the keyboard settings):

For what it's worth, I've never seen a bogomips above 749 on my Powerbook6,8. I don't have cpufreq going because it doesn't seem to have done anything when I have tried it. I am running 2.6.11.12, though, and maybe the story is different with the newer kernels. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get any of them to boot.

I have exactly the same problem, and yes I've added the synaptics configuration to my xorg.conf file.

I think part of the problem is the unclear instruction regarding the driver builds, i.e. atp and appletouch.

You need to have the userlocales use flag enabled for glibc to read locales.build.

Have you guys tried appletouch 0.7? That's what I'm using. No problems other than scrolling not working.

Good idea, will try that now. I got mouse working with just atp but would very much like to get full functionality.

appletouch-0.8 doesn't even compile for me. I'm beginning to think my system is screwed up somehow.

I've just found a problem with appletouch0.7. I plugged in a usb printer and that seemed to confuse appletouch. The pointer moved ever so slightly, but so slowly and reluctantly to be unusable.

The ultra-slow motion pointer problem just reappeared, this time with no usb printer attached. I'm not sure what it is. At any rate, removing and re-inserting the appletouch module solved the problem.

Code:
     InputDevice "Synaptics Touchpad" "CorePointer"

there is a problem over here. If I remove the "Corepointer" I am able to start X, but nothing like scrolling happens. otherwize if I leave Corepointer it gives me an error saying that there is no synaptics even device foudn (yes I have Event interface compiled in the kernel).

Other problem is the powernowd becouse it don't works fine. When i compile the cpu freq is 749 mhz, but when i am listening music with xmms it works at 1500mhz...

Mi kernel config is this:

[*] CPU Frequency scaling
<*> CPU frequency translation statistics
[*] CPU frequency translation statistics details
Default CPUFreq governor (userspace) --->
<*> 'performance' governor
<*> 'powersave' governor
[*] Support for Apple PowerBooks

And other is the lm_sensors, i have this options in kernel <*> I2C device interface,<M> Powermac Keywest I2C interface. But lm_sensors don't work if i dont select Hardware Sensors Chip support , but i don't know what is the sensor chip for power book 6.8... can you help me please?

# emerge lm_sensors
...
!!! ERROR: sys-apps/lm_sensors-2.9.1-r1 failed.
!!! Function pkg_setup, Line 44, Exitcode 0
!!! CONFIG_I2C_SENSOR not detected

Thx a lot!

ive been struggling with the lmsensors thingy on my powerbook too and did not found any way to bring this to work *my way*.
Monitoring itself works and fans/temps can be read from /proc interface, but i would like to have it running through lmsensors (and gkrellm by extension ;) ) . Does anyone have any ideas ?
Ive searched the web and found a gkrellm plugin for the adm103x module ( the one in the new ibooks IIRC ) . I didnt succeded to find something similiar for the adt7467 module and looked to the code of the plugin but im not smart enough with c ...

g0su, i believe monitoring is done by this adm103x module on your ibook. I dont know if its mainline or not though.

cheers

I haven't tried this myself, but Stelian Pop (the appletouch driver author) just posted this to the debian-powerpc list:
