Howdy. I just finished installing gentoo-ppc and have run into one problem which I have never run into before. The problem is when I boot up, I am told that eth0 cannot start because it is not properly configured. The /etc/conf.d/net file is blank, and I recall in the past that it has something like #if_config="something" that I needed to uncomment in order for dhcpcd to work. Is this file supposed to be blank, and if so, then how do I go about getting my internet working? This seems like a common question, but I searched and found nothing that really struck at the heart of my question. Thanks for any help.

First, check to make sure that TCP/IP and you network card modules are loaded by checking your dmesg. Next, if you're using baselayout 1.12, a blank net config is fine, it defaults to dhcp. for both, there should be a file: net.example with examples on how to set up /etc/conf.d/net

Good luck
