I've been running XFCE 4.2.2 for Since what, August now? A long time. Everything was working flawlessly. I've always had the taskbar show the names of the programs and it would be fine. Now all of a sudden it decideds to cram all the text from the application name (ie. Mozilla Firefox - Gentoo Forums Topic blah blah blah) into the space, making it un-readable and ugly. Its really irritating, has this happend to anyone?

Change back to 2.6 and recompile xfce.

If you search the forums for the gtk2.8 release thread you will see that some other people experienced the same problem.
