The cpu_scaling governor on demand still doesn't work, iBook G3-600.
I tried again with the 2.6.12 sources.
Code:
# cat scaling_available_governors
conservative ondemand powersave userspace performance
# echo "ondemand" > scaling_governor
# cat scaling_governor
powersave

# grep "GOV" /usr/src/linux-2.6.12-gentoo-r10/.config
# CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT_GOV_PERFORMANCE is not set
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_DEFAULT_GOV_USERSPACE=y
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_GOV_PERFORMANCE=y
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_GOV_POWERSAVE=y
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_GOV_USERSPACE=y
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_GOV_ONDEMAND=y
CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_GOV_CONSERVATIVE=y
Neither the conservative.
So far I have to use cpufreqd daemon.

you cpu has so long latency for trasition between frequencies.
The latency is not enough short for some governors as such conservative.
so conservative governor as well as ondemand does not support your cpu.
you should use a user-space daemon for frequency scaling.

Is that true of the G4s too? I'm thinking about the 7447A in particular.

Ok, good to know. Because I was told just to use a newer kernel.
So I have to continue with cpufreqd? This tool is slow in switching frequency.

Will that change in future kernels ? looks like ondemand/conservative perform better than userland tools, and are also much easier to use.
