everything has gone swimmingly up to now, but then this happens during 'emerge --emptytree system'...

thanks for the advice, sadly, it's exactly the same :( i think i'm gonna start over from the stage1 tarball and see if this still happens :|

if anybody knows if my USE flags are breaking it, let me know, it'll be a while before i'm back at this stage :roll:

I've found out through reading other posts, and personal experiences, its best to limit your "USE" settings to nptl only(USE="nptl"). Your system will compile better. I also emerge python before "emerge -e system" (had pyhton errors during "emerge -e system").

After your system is compiled and your ready to install your desktop, then change your USE settings to whatever you feel is right for the system you are trying to build.
