Today I re-emerged my apache2 by emerging subversion with `export USE=apache2`. In doing so, I apparently broke apache, and am getting strange errors.

Here's a line from my /var/log/apache2/error_log when I try the following URL for my server: http://10.0.1.70/
Code:
[Wed Oct 05 15:20:02 2005] [error] [client 10.0.1.70] Directory index forbidden by rule: /usr/htdocs/

Now, my question is not why is the Directory index forbidden...rather my question is why is /usr/htdocs the referenced directory, when my DocumentRoot is /var/www/localhost:
Code:
# grep DocumentRoot /etc/apache2/conf/apache2.conf
DocumentRoot /var/www/localhost/htdocs

I've grep'd the entire /etc/ directory to try and find any reference to /usr/htdocs. The directory didn't even exist, I created it in the process of trouble-shooting. I've never used /usr/htdocs for my webserver.

Another error started after I installed subversion - an issue with NameVirtualHost:
Code:
# /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
 * Stopping apache2 ...
[Wed Oct 05 15:45:50 2005] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHos  [ ok ]
 * Starting apache2 ...
[Wed Oct 05 15:45:52 2005] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHos  [ ok ]

I've never used Virtual Hosts on this server, and haven't edited the /etc/init.d/apache2/vhosts/vhosts.conf file

I have never emerged subversion, but perhaps it includes some nasty Apache 2 configuration snippet, and that's outside of /etc? Just a thought and maybe not very realistic one...
