Hey all!

I have a Power-Book G4 with Gentoo Linux.
I have installed the pbbuttonsd on it and everythings works pretty well. I had some problmes with the backlight of my keyboard and then i found some help in a mailing-list.
When i run the command "mknod /dev/i2c-4 c 89 4" and then restart pbbuttonsd the backlight works. But when i reboot the powerbook the settings are lost and i have to run the command again.
So, is there a way to change this settings forever?

Thanks

This is handled by pbbuttonsd, make sure that your pbbuttonsd.conf is configured correctly.

Thanks! Saved me a headache.

The pbbuttonsd daemon is not at fault; so its config has nothing to do with this issue. (Didn't read the post?)

You're probably using udev with a 2.6.12+ kernel. When using devfs on older 2.6.x, this node was created automatically. But udev doesn't; at least not on my system.

# modprobe i2c_keywest
# mknod /dev/i2c-4 c 89 4
The above solves your problem?

Autoload i2c_keywest in some manner.
Then you need to do one of:
(a) configure udev to always create above node
(b) add the above mknod command in some init.d script that runs before loading of pbbuttonsd
(c) edit /etc/conf.d/rc to have: RC_DEVICE_TARBALL="yes"
