Is there hfs/hfsplus support on any of the ppc livecds?

On ppc64 2005.1 minimal (intended for a g5 imac)

there is nothing in modprobe -l
/proc/config claims that
Code:
CONFIG_HFS_FS is not set
CONFIG_HFSPLUS_FS is not set

and, of course,

mount -t hfsplus /dev/sda3 /mnt/whatever reports
Code:
Unknown filesystem type 'hfsplus'
otherwise I wouldn't be posting!

I am currently downloading the two isos in http://gentoo.osuosl.org/experimental/ppc64/livecd/ with hope
but am concerned that the ppc64 iso linked from the main page (where I got my first iso) had the aforementioned problem....

On all PPC32 CDs there is hfs/hfs+ support. I'm not sure why the ppc64 team didn't enable it. Perhaps if you ask in the #gentoo-ppc64 IRC channel someone there can build the module for you using the LiveCD kernel.

Couldn't get much talking going on in there!

Don't suppose anyone has the ability to
a) Tell me where I could possibly be going wrong
b) Fix the livecd to work with the G5 (with firewire and hfs support)
?

It does have FireWire support, but you have to search really hard for the module. (It's hidden very, very deep somewhere in /mnt/cdrom/zisofs/lib64/ and the module tools don't always deal well with it...)

sounds promising!

don't suppose hfs support is similarly well hidden?

[edit]
actually, it turns out that /lib64 (where I'd been looking) is a symlink to /mnt/cdrom/zisofs/lib64 so I found nothing new there to get either hfs or firewire working with my imac G5 and the livecd.

Whyeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?!

Sorry to hook into this thread...
I'm installing 2005.1 on an OW machine. I'm booting into the installation with the G3G4 kernel and G3G4 initrd form the 2005.0 cd because of broken scsi/cdrom support in 2005.1.
I'm now at the point of copying my compiled kernel to the MacOS (BootX) partition, however I can not mount my mac partition:
Code:
mount: unkown filesystem type 'hfs'

Can this be due to booting with the 2005.0 kernel?

What are my options for getting the kernel of my ext2 partition? Network is not operational yet as I'm unable to load the tulip module. I do have an usb pendrive, but have no clue how to mount it.

Yes... I booted with the 2005.0 CD (and kernel + initrd) and then was able to mount my hfsplus partition and copy my kernel. Now I'm even more sorry to hack this thread, not just hook into it
