I have 2 troubles to shoot
1) I need to install Eclipse because I want to write programs using Java, but I have to install JavaVirtualMachine before. When I try to emerge the JVM, this message appears>

Code:

localhost ~ # emerge jre
--- Invalid atom in /etc/portage/package.use: dev-java/ibm-jre-bin-1.4.2
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) dev-java/ibm-jre-bin-1.4.2 to /
!!! IBMJava2-JRE-142.ppc.tgz not found in /usr/portage/distfiles

!!! dev-java/ibm-jre-bin-1.4.2 has fetch restriction turned on.
!!! This probably means that this ebuild's files must be downloaded
!!! manually.  See the comments in the ebuild for more information.

 * Due to license restrictions, we cannot redistribute or fetch the distfiles
 * Please visit: http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/
 * Download: IBMJava2-JRE-142.ppc.tgz
 * Place the file in: /usr/portage/distfiles
 * Rerun emerge

I manually downloaded IBMJava2-JRE-142.ppc.tgz, and I placed it in the right folder. AFter this I tried to emerge the JVM again. But this message appears

Code:

localhost ~ # emerge jre
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) dev-java/ibm-jre-bin-1.4.2 to /
>>> md5 files   ;-) ibm-jre-bin-1.4.2.ebuild
>>> md5 files   ;-) files/ibm-jre-bin-1.4.1
>>> md5 files   ;-) files/ibm-jre-bin-1.4.2
>>> md5 files   ;-) files/digest-ibm-jre-bin-1.4.2

!!! Digest verification Failed:
!!!    /usr/portage/distfiles/IBMJava2-JRE-142.ppc.tgz
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size

Finally, I manually extracted the IBMJava2-JRE-142.ppc.tgz and I executed

Code:

export PATH=/path-to-jre/bin:$PATH
export PATH=/path-to-jre/jre/bin:$PATH
ln -s /path-to-jre/jre /root/eclipse
./eclipse
Error loading: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

JVM terminated. Exit code=1
/root/eclipse/./jre/bin/java
-Xms40m
-Xmx256m
-jar /root/eclipse/./startup.jar
-os linux
-ws gtk
-arch ppc
-launcher /root/eclipse/./eclipse
-name Eclipse
-showsplash 600
-exitdata 48004
-vm /root/eclipse/./jre/bin/java
-vmargs
-Xms40m
-Xmx256m
-jar /root/eclipse/./startup.jar

I searched for libstdc++.so.5 in the whole HDD but it doesnt exist. maybe this happens because I use the gcc version 3.4.4
Any solution?
[/bug]

2)Fluxbox runs correctly. Gnome-light does not. This means that . xorg.conf runs correctly. If I run startx, the system crashes and the screen only shows
Code:
SESSION_MANAGER=local/localhost:/temp/.ICE_Unix/6677

(6677 is a number that increase when i exec the command)

The first error is because you did not place an = or > or < in /etc/portage/package.use for the entry dev-java/ibm-jre-bin-1.4.2 If you specify version numbers you mush add an atom.

For the second error try "ebuild /usr/portage/dev-java/ibm-jre-bin/ibm-jre-bin-1.4.2.ebuild digest" and then "emerge jre" again.
