I searched the forums and tried a number of different settings, but so far I just boot to gentoo. My yaboot.conf is pieced together from a number of different configs I've located.

Partition Scheme:
Code:
/dev/hda1     Apple_partition_map Apple                    63 @ 1        ( 31.5k)  Partition map
/dev/hda2              Apple_Free                      262144 @ 64       (128.0M)  Free space
/dev/hda3               Apple_HFS Apple_HFS_Untitled_1 38676832 @ 262208   ( 18.4G)  HFS
/dev/hda4         Apple_Bootstrap bootstrap              1600 @ 38939040 (800.0k)  NewWorld bootblock
/dev/hda5         Apple_UNIX_SVR2 swap                1048576 @ 38940640 (512.0M)  Linux swap
/dev/hda6         Apple_UNIX_SVR2 root               38150944 @ 39989216 ( 18.2G)  Linux native

Yaboot Config:
Code:
boot=/dev/hda4
device=/pci@f4000000/ata-6@d/disk@0:
partition=6
root=/dev/hda6
timeout=100
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot

delay=30
defaultos=macosx

macosx=/dev/hda3

image=/boot/kernel-2.6.13-r3
  label=Linux
  alias=l
  read-only
  single-key
  append="video=radeon:1600x1024@60"

enablecdboot
enableofboot

Also I have no boot menu as it is. The system just starts gentoo.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Here's mine, also for a mac mini. I use a different notation to indicate the partition for osx: hd:12. Try if that works.

Code:
boot=/dev/hda2
device=/pci@f4000000/ata-6@d/disk@0:
partition=6
delay=10
defaultos=macosx
timeout=40
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot

image=/boot/kernel-2.6.13-hardened
   label=test13
   root=/dev/hda6
   read-only
   append="video=radeonfb:1280x1024-32"

image=/boot/kernel-2.6.12-ck2
   label=ck
   root=/dev/hda6
   read-only
   append="video=radeonfb:1280x1024-32"

macosx=hd:12
bsd=hd:13
enablecdboot
enableofboot

this may sound silly, but did you executed the "ybin" app after finishing to configure the yaboot.conf file?

e.g:

Code:
ybin -v

I have exactly the same configuration. Anyone knows what's that 31.5K partition at the start of the HD, and why is there a 128M free space gap after it ?

The first partition is the Apple partition map. It holds your partition information. The 128Mb free space is left automatically by the OSX partition tool. It's not used for anything.
