I have been searching for any other people that have encountered this error, but I have come up short. Please let me know if there is any other information that would be helpful. I am at a complete loss. I have been trying to find an answer for the last week and this is my last resort. I am running an iBook G3 700 MHz, 14.1" screen.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Ian

Thank you for the reply. My error was a bit different, but I tried to do as you outlined, but I cannot find the ebuild you mention in that post: linux26-headers.

Code:
emerge unmerge linux26-headers
emerge linux-headers
emerge DirectFB
emerge unmerge linux-headers
emerge linux26-headers

When I do a search I get these results:
Code:

emerge --search headers

I see the linux-headers but I am afraid to emerge it without knowing that I can get my old headers back. Again thank you and I am sorry if I have missed something.

You didn't read the whole post did you?

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2740814.html#2740814

Again, I'll ask here, do you *really* want directfb? It's really not all that useful. If you absolutely need it, you can emerge the older linux-headers, emerge directfb, then emerge the current linux-headers back.

I am very sorry for wating your time. I thought I had read the whole thread, but I hadn't. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. I also just realized that you only need DirectFB for xine if it is in your USE flags. I am sorry and thank you very much for your help.

No worries, it's not wasting my time, I just want to be sure that you *really* wanted DirectFB. Most people don't. :)
