I´m installing Gentoo on a PowerMac Dual 1,8 GHz, 1,25 GB Ram, ... I have a problem with installing yaboot.

I have configured the /etc/yaboot.conf file and than i ran "mkofboot -v", but Gentoo gave me an error.
mkofboot: /dev/sda4: No such file or directory
mkofboot: /dev/nvram: No such file or directory
mkofboot: Warning: nvram will not be updated

If i say "ls /dev" there are no files in it. 8O

fdisk says (sda1 - sda3 are Apple Partitions):
/dev/sda4 NewWorld bootblock
/dev/sda5 Linux Nativ (/ , Ext3)
/dev/sda6 Swap

Can you help me?

Hm yaboot doesn´t work. When i start my Mac, Tiger is booting. There is no yaboot screen. When i press alt at the beginning i can choose the Linux partition to boot and the yaboot screen comes. I have the choice to boot Linux, Mac, Cdrom or OpenFirmware. If i choose Linux the "alt Screen" (like on the beginning) apears.

I hope you can help me.

I had a similar problem yesterday, but after a lot of trial and error, I did get past that...

Can you post your yaboot.conf? I can probably remember if i see what you've got.

From Pioneer's yaboot.conf
Quote:
boot=/dev/sda4
macos=sda1
From man bootstrap:
Quote:
Since OpenFirmware boots the first partition it finds to be bootable it
is important that the bootstrap partition be first on the disk before
any MacOS partition, otherwise MacOS will be booted instead of a dual
boot menu used with yaboot(8).
