I'm part of the office staff for GenUX and I have kept quiet, but no more. I can no longer live with the superior egos of some devs who are only interested in bashing GenUX.
It never ceases to amaze me that no matter what GenUX does, it can never satisfy some devs.
They continue to degrade us, even after all our efforts to address all their concerns.
We made a good faith effort with giving back to the community and offering Free Tech Support for two weeks, but some even complained about that. We open sourced a Gentoo installer, and received a biased review by one developer.
We do not want to take over Gentoo nor add any extra work for the developers; our goal was always to fill in the gap that businesses require to use the best Linux Operating System available
I guess we can never make them all happy. We know that the majority of the Gentoo Community supports us. We have heard your voices and comments and are pleased with your encouragement. However, a small amount of developers have become very vocal and have over powered our supporters.
This is why I ask of our supporters: please speak up and voice your opinion. Don't let a few control the path of Gentoo.
Thank you

I think Linux(/Gentoo) is in need of people like you who are willeng to stand between the users and developers, who sometime(?) seem to see themselves superior beings and have the right to bash anyone that does not have the programming skills they posess. Its good that someone is willing to take that hit, and especially, take the load of support off the developers themselves, this, when good implemented, will be a win situation for everyone involved. But this system can only work if there is a mutual respect from both parties, For the developers, having no social skills and spending their whole existance in the glow of a computer screen, () this can be a hard task, but it has te be overcome.
I have not heard from you before, but please do not quit as you seem to be filling in a gap the developers cannot fill.
I am no native english speaker.

From: http://www.livejournal.com/users/applegoddess/
Certain Gentoo devs are flaming each other over genux. It's unbelievable. Not to insult Deedra or agaffney, or anyone else for that matter, but honestly. Neither the GenUX installer nor the Gentoo Linux Installer are good, okay? Both have their faults, both have issues. However, reading Andrew's review of both GenUX and GLI was painful. From the beginning. He talks about how the GenUX installer just sits there blank screened for a few minutes while loading. How does he describe a very similar pause at startup in his very own GLI? "The LiveCD can take a few minutes to finish the boot process depending on the speed of your computer and your CD-ROM drive. Once X starts, you are presented with a gdm login screen.". As opposed to: "You are presented with a black screen for about 3 minutes. After this, the installer launches inside a window manager known as PAWM." COME ON. YOU JUST DESCRIBED ALMOST THE SAME EVENT IN TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AND BIASED WAYS. F**k, that's not a review, you just bashed the whole thing from beginning to end for being incomplete. And you sit there worshipping your GLI with no working Help button. Like an existant but non-working button is any better than a lack of a button.
The interface is a bit confusing for someone not familiar with it, especially since the 'Help' button doesn't work yet. - Oh yeah. Confusion is better than over simplification. Yeahhhhh.
This term is a bit confusing and/or vague. This is an internal (to the installer developers) term that refers to setting up the client (box you're installing on) for doing the install. More confusion.
Here, you can edit your USE flags, piece together your CFLAGS, and set a few other options from your /etc/make.conf. There are currently a lot of options missing from this screen. and When you click the 'Expert' button, you will be presented with the following screen. It lets you modify your USE with absolutely no explanation of what it is. They also let the user select their portage FEATURES such as 'cvs' and 'autoaddcvs', again without any indication as to what they are. Pray tell, what's better? Options that are there but not explained, explicitly labelled "Expert", or options that are halfassedly explained and sorta missing but hey, you tried to explain it! Because people new to installing Gentoo know what the f**k USE flags are and know what to do with them! Like experts need to learn how to use USE flags!

I don't see why any Gentoo dev would have an issue with GenUX except for anyone working on similar projects. Deedra is right, Deedra, I don't understand people either.

On top of that, the whole irc thing...oh my god, don't get me started. But I will rant on it later, I suppose. I need to rant about it.
