I am trying to install KDE. When I try to emerge what I want it tells me 'Temporary failure in name resolution' for every one that I want to download. How do I get this to download?

Are you sure your network is working? Try
Code:
ping www.gentoo.org

When I try to ping it says unknown host...I am guessing my networking is messed up. Instead of posting more here I just made another thread in the networking forums.

Try "dhcpcd eth*" with the * being which ever network adapter you are using. Most probably it will be 0. Also, do you have dhcp set up as default in /etc/conf.d/net

dhcpcd eth0 didn't work got the same unknown. I have no idea how to get into the /etc/conf.d/net file.

Do you have a valid /etc/resolv.conf? If not, boot from the livecd, mount your root partition and cp /etc/resolv.conf /mnt/somewhere/etc/resolv.conf

Please don't start a new thread on the same topic if you think it's misplaced, ask a moderator to move it instead. Please follow up to Can't get my network working.

Moved from Desktop Environments to Duplicate Threads.
