Is it possible to use '-mcpu=G5' in 32-bit-Userland?

is this stable ?

I mean you have 32bit userland and you compile 64bit userland ?

unless you won't run 64bit apps to 32bit userland enviroment.

I'm not sure how it works but my kernel is 64 bit and it can handle 32 bit userland apps. I can't as far as I'm aware, with my current setup, run 64 bit userland apps with this 64 bit kernel - that I think would require bi-arch or mutlilib configuration.

So far (around 1 month) it's been stable. However, certain minor problems exist. For example one part
of iptables doesn't work (I've written a bug report https://bugzilla.netfilter.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=94). There is a simple fix but I'm busy at the moment to post this since I need to figure out the best fix.

The best place for these sort of questions is to get onto Gentoo ppc64 Linux IRC (irc.freenode.net, channel - #gentoo-ppc64). The people there helped me go from 32bit kernel/32 bit Userland to 64bit Kernel/ 32 bit userland.

I only can say: There are more programs available on 32ul than in 64ul... But there are some packets that can be compiled, but don´t run. Here little, very little list from me:

- fluxbox (gives a segmentation fault, no work)
- openoffice (can´t compile)
- openoffice-ximian (can´t also compiled)
- streamtuner (part-running, you can start it, but no stream can be delivered to xmms)
- streamripper (sometimes work, sometimes not)

and so on!!!

At last I can only say: I don´t know why running Gentoo on my PowerMac Dual G5 @ 2.7GHz/1.35GHz FSB!!!
