Hello,

I somehow feel that my question is trivial, but I couldn't find the answer so I decided to post it.

I run 'emerge sync' and then 'emerge --update --newuse --deep world' regularly to have the system up-to-date. I was sure that this will cover all non-masked updates to all packages I have, but today I have been a little bit surprised.

I run:

Code:
# emerge --pretend --update --newuse --deep --verbose world

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies ...done!

Total size of downloads: 0 kB

But then, as part of my routine I run glsa-check that showed my system to be vulnerable:

Code:
[N] indicates that the system might be affected.
200511-02 [N] QDBM, ImageMagick, GDAL: RUNPATH issues ( sci-libs/gdal media-gfx/imagemagick dev-db/qdbm )

Strange, I thought, and run:

Code:
# glsa-check -p 200511-02
(...)

Checking GLSA 200511-02
The following updates will be performed for this GLSA:
     media-gfx/imagemagick-6.2.4.2-r1 (6.2.2.3-r1)

and just to be sure I checked:

Code:
# eix imagemagick
* media-gfx/imagemagick
     Available versions:  6.1.8.8 6.2.0.4 ~6.2.0.6 ~6.2.1.5 ~6.2.1.5-r1 6.2.2.0 6.2.2.0-r1 ~6.2.2.3 6.2.2.3-r1 ~6.2.4.2 6.2.4.2-r1 ~6.2.5.2
     Installed:           6.2.2.3-r1
     Homepage:            http://www.imagemagick.org/
Description:         A collection of tools and libraries for many image formats

So... my system knows that there is a newer, non-masked version of ImageMagick (I run eix database update just after emerge sync), but 'emerge -update' does not update it. The question is why?

media-gfx/imagemagick is NOT listed in /etc/portage/packages.mask file.

Best regards, Grzegorz

Backup your /var/lib/portage/world, and run /usr/sbin/regenworld.
