When trying to resize my HFS+ partition using parted, it cycles through the initial, time-consuming part of the resize, but then spits out the error that "there no implementation" and "cannot write HFS wrapper. I have some idea what this means, but how do I work around it?

As far as I know hfs+ partition resizing with parted is not exactly production ready yet. It may work, then again it may not work.

Really? As the author of the HFS code I would prefer receiving bug reports instead of discovering there are problems while random reading various forums on the web

I mean, it would be a lot more easier for me to fix problems if I know they exist...

:) Yeah, I can see that would be a lot more helpful then my hearsay comment.
Next time somebody mentions problems of this sort on #gentoo-ppc I'll refer them to you 8)

Hi,

I was wondering if there has been a fix for this issue? I didn't see it in the bugtracker system... I'm trying the 2006.1 min. install CD on a iMac w/ OS 9.2.2 and am seeing this issue.

TIA.

nick88:

xilun666 is the author of partimage's HFS support, he's not a Gentoo Developer, so perhaps do as he asks and report the issue upstream. It's my understanding that the resizer will not work with HFS+ journaled partitions, so perhaps try disabling that before resizing.
