|
|
I did get a Canon SmartBase MP360 priter the other day. However i did soon notice that the printer it self is not supported under cups, but i was able to get the printer to print correct. This is multi function printer with scanner, i don't know how to get the scanner working so don't ask.
I will go over how this can be done. This is simple and easy.
The basic
The basic start is Printing and Gentoo Linux Guide, this guide also covers samba setup. However i did use http://localhost:631 and i did configure cupsd.conf as needed for premission.
The cups setting
The cups setting that i did use is the following.
* Canon BJC-7100 Foomatic/bjc800 (recommended)
This printer driver, even if it is not ment for this type of printer works without a problem. I have printed out around 5 pages to test this and i don't see any problem with the printing, and the color works just fine.
This printer is usb connected so it uses this location usb:/dev/usb/lp0
The device URI is this usb:/dev/usb/lp0
This location might be diffrent your own computer if you have other printer connected. It is also a good idea to check the default settings for the printer and change them if needed.
This is all of the guide. I might update it on a later date if i come a across better info or learn new tricks.
Sorry for the spelling errors in this post.
Happy printing.
