I'm using firefox 1.5 rc2 and it uses the latest GTK file chooser.

When I go to save something the fie chooser always defaults to an annoying minimal state and I have to click on "Browse for other folders" to make it vaguely useful. Whats worse is that expanding the dialog to make it useful positions the save and cancel buttons below the bottom of my screen so I then have to move the whole dialog box into view before I can do anything.

This is bad enough to be called a bug.

Does anyone know if there's a setting somewhere that makes the chooser always open in its expanded state?
