hi, guys!

well, my harddisk on my notebook ist much too small... and unfortunatley, i've given my root partition not enough space. after installing openoffice 2.0 binary this is my actual problem:
Code:

Dateisystem          Größe Benut  Verf Ben% Eingehängt auf
/dev/hda4             3,9G  3,9G     0 100% /
udev                  251M  196K  251M   1% /dev
/dev/hda1              93M   24M   65M  27% /boot
/dev/mapper/daten-daten
                       25G   25G  514M  98% /daten
/dev/mapper/daten-home
                      3,6G  2,0G  1,6G  56% /home
/dev/mapper/daten-var
                      3,5G  195M  3,3G   6% /var
/dev/mapper/daten-opt
                      500M  159M  342M  32% /opt
none                  251M     0  251M   0% /dev/shm

here my partition table:
Code:

Gerät  boot.     Anfang        Ende     Blöcke   Id  System
/dev/hda1   *           1         195       98248+  83  Linux
/dev/hda2             196        2134      977256   82  Linux Swap / Solaris
/dev/hda3           10248       77520    33905592    5  Extended
/dev/hda4            2135       10247     4088952   83  Linux
/dev/hda5           10248       77520    33905560+  8e  Linux LVM

except for my boot and swap everything is reiserfs.
i've already resized some logical volumes befor, but i dont know how to shrink the extended partition.

thanks for the help!

If you haven't done that already, move portage stuff (/usr/portage) to another partition.
(Use the PORTDIR and DISTDIR vars. in make.conf after the move)
That should give you some breathing space.
Consider moving /usr to your LVM volume.
