So, a few days ago I emerged the 3.4.4 version of gcc and uninstalled teh previous 3.3.5. What a mess.. I had to add by hand libstdc++.so.5 as a link to libstdc++.so.6 and recompile gcc and also
Code:
emerge -e system && emerge -e system

Now I'm also trying to
Code:
revdep-rebuild --library libstdc++.so.5

but when recompiling kdegraphics it stops at
Code:
grep: /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5-20050130/libstdc++.la: No such file or directory
/bin/sed: can't read /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5-20050130/libstdc++.la: No such file or directory
libtool: link: `/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5-20050130/libstdc++.la' is not a valid libtool archive

I'm not sure what should I do now. But I'm sure it's simple :roll:
If anyone wonders how did I get there, I installed a new system based on 2005.1-r1.

some binary packages require the old libstdc++ library,
these packages can be repaired by emerging libstdc++-v3 so if you get problems with missing libstdc++ usually related to realplay

Code:
emerge libstdc++-v3

Nope, that's not it.
libstdc++-v3 is already emerged 3 times.

The problem lies in paths! Who and why is referring to a dissapeared folder?! :?

Thanks a lot, the --oldarch flag was missing from the picture... I even bookmarked that page :wink:

This command should have worked (I actually tried it):
Code:
man fix_libtool_files.sh

Moved from Portage & Programming to Duplicate Threads in favour of Tycon's link, as well as this FAQ: Emerge fails after upgrading gcc. libstdc++.la missing.
