I swear I have the worst timing. Just finished compiling KDE 3.4 AND Firefox 1.07 yesterday and new versions come out today. My laptop gets so hot when compiling I leave half of it hanging out my window lol. Otherwise I get temp errors from gcc. Time for me to setup distcc I guess

Sounds like you need one of these. My wife got one last summer and it did wonders for her crash-happy Toshiba.

Does anyone know if the search engines we've added are stored in a users profile now? Or are they still stored at:

/opt/firefox/searchplugins

TIA!

I just velcro'ed a couple of sticks of wood to the bottom of my laptop computer. This gives it about 1/2" of space underneath for airflow. I've also installed the Gkrellm fan controls and I have them cut in sooner than they normally do.

Just emerged Firefox 1.5...and it's called Deer Park?! What's up with that? Deer Park shows up in the title bar and menus!

You could check this https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2905430.html#2905430 and https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2783288.html#2783288.
I am not sure if gentoo has the rights to use the mozilla-trademarks in order to enable the official branding:(
this's what commercialization brings us :) but who cares

"emerge --search firefox" shows only firefox-1.0.7-r2.

ebuild /usr/portage/www-client/mozilla-firefox/mozilla-firefox-1.5.ebuild compile

with error:

Now u are using a stable system and this requires ~arch, because of the gnome-2.12 depndancies, that's why you don't see the upgrade.

and never ever use ebuild xxx compile if you don't know the consequences of this, not that (compile) will bork your system, but there are others (for example qmerge), which could do it:)

The unofficial branding means you get a plan globe as the logo instead of the fox; it doesn't affect the name. AFAIK you're only meant to use official branding if you use their binaries, not compiling it yourself.

"Deer Park" has been the name of the 1.5 tree so far. I assumed it was going to revert to Firefox for the final 1.5 release though...

1.5 is in portage and I have finished compiling it. The ability to move tabs is nice. Also nice to know that they are a decent speed gentoo mirror.
