I use latest vanilla kernel 2.6.14.3 and kernel headers provided from portage.

When I builded glibc with linuxthreads I had crashes on multithread apps like kded or famd.
So I recompiled glibc with NTLP and things work really smooth with no crashes...

In many USE flags I see the option threads.

threads USE flag will work only with linuxthreads or also with NTPL ?

I don't remember except glibc to have seen a USE flag linuxthreads on some other app but I am not sure.

Whoa!? You built glibc with ntpl or ntplonly?

Anyway, if you build glibc with the ntpl USE flag, glibc will be built twice--once with linuxthreads support and one with ntpl support. I tried this when I did a re-install about six weeks ago and the compile failed and said that USE=ntpl does not work on PPC, only USE=ntplonly.

I always use latest portage and emerge informed me that if i want to build ntpl I must also use ntplonly.
So I use ntpl only in glibc and not linuxthreads at all.
