* Regenerating GNU info directory index...
* Processed 137 info files.
* IMPORTANT: 151 config files in /etc need updating.
* Type emerge --help config to learn how to update config files.

there has to be an easier way then etc-update and comparing every file, this will be very time consuming if its the only way. Don't know how I ended up with 151 config files within 1 day worth of updates. I update almost every day.

It's a really good idea to perform it manually to avoid screwing things up, although, there are tools to simplify the process...

Have a look for cfgupdate.py - https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-272004-highlight-.html - it can save you a lot of hassle..

Some useful search terms there in addition to provided links. Also helpful is to select the Portage & Programming forum for the search.
