I need to set -march. Which CPU do I have? All I know is that it's an AMD.

Code:
chris@c4isr ~ $ dmesg | grep -i cpu
Initializing CPU#0
CPU: After generic identify, caps: 0183f9ff c1c7f9ff 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000
CPU: After vendor identify, caps: 0183f9ff c1c7f9ff 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000
CPU: L1 I Cache: 64K (64 bytes/line), D cache 64K (64 bytes/line)
CPU: L2 Cache: 256K (64 bytes/line)
CPU: After all inits, caps: 0183f9ff c1c7f9ff 00000000 00000020 00000000 00000000 00000000
Intel machine check reporting enabled on CPU#0.
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) Processor stepping 02
ACPI: CPU0 (power states: C1[C1])
ACPI: Processor [CPU0] (supports 2 throttling states)

Thanks for your help,

Chris

I'm pretty sure you should just use athlon as your march,
Code:
CFLAGS="-march=athlon -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"

should be ok, there is a large discussion about cflags in these places:
