Trying to setup a Mac Mini (latest model: G4 1.5GHz/1GB RAM/64MB VRAM/80GB 5200rpm HDD/8x DVD-R) using vanilla kernel 2.6.14.3.
All DRM and AGP modules are built into the kernel and load without errors as well as the framebuffer (radeonfb) which displays the startup console in 1920x1200 resolution (display model is: HP f2304 connected via DVI cable).

Using xorg-x11-6.8.2-r4 with Option "UseFBDev" "False":
When trying to start Xorg with a resolution higher than 1280x1024 (like 1600x1200 or 1920x1200) I get a strange display which cuts down resolution by half.
By chechking in the display's built in menu I see effective resolutions of 800x1200 (instead of 1600x1200) or 960x1200 (instead of 1920x1200).

The only way to get a good display is setting Option "UseFBDev" "True"

I thought it was not good to use the framebuffer (as it is slow, isn't it?)

Any comment is appreciated.
Thank you very much
Marco

No, it doesn't make much of a difference either way. Set it to whatever works for you.
