Hi all
I don't know much about linux. But even though, I would still like an optimized kernel for my Ibook, instead of some "standard" setup. I don't want anything I don't need, that might slow my computer down. Therefore I wonder if anyone in here have a kernel config optimized for Ibook G4 and the hardware in this computer? And if they would post it here? Things like Bluetooth, Airport Extreme and other things should be possible to enable. Can anyone help me out here? :)

I'm sorry I cannot give you a link because I'm on lynx and it's not easy (it's a navigator in text mode...)

You should search on google, ther is a lot of config files for ibook. Or as soon as I repair my problem, I will give you my .config

Good luck...

Try having a look at www.ppckernel.org under specialized kernels. Other sites you might want to have a look at are www.tuxmobil.org/apple.html and http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/apple.html. Good Luck.

I don't think my config qualifies as "optimal", but it's a lot better than the default (for me at least.) I don't have Bluetooth in my kernel though ... because I don't have a bluetooth adapter or any bluetooth devices.

Here is my config though - I'd like to open it up for scrutiny. Comments are wanted/welcomed.

My make.conf compile options are as follows:

Code:
CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=7400 -maltivec -mabi=altivec -mtune=powerpc -pipe"
CHOST="powerpc-unknonw-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS='${CFLAGS}"

hi,

i have Problems with my usb-mouse running a 2.6.15.x kernel. Even with the given kernel-config-file the cursor doesn`t move, although the optical light is flashing ....
This behaviour only occurs running a 2.6.15.x kernel, up to 2.6.14.x there are no Problems.

any suggestions ??

i solved the Problem by changing the mouse. Strange for me since the other usb-mouse is running up to 2.6.14
