I'm installing a minimal system and would like to be able to cause emerge to ignore certain categories of packages. There is no sound and no video so I can eliminate all packages related to X, gnome, kde, media, games etc. I'm hoping not needing to sync all these directories would cut sync times down significantly. I'd really love to be able to remove these directories from /usr/portage as well to save the 50-100 megs of space they take up. Is their something built into portage to allow this or am I going to have to do some script hacking that will disappear on the next portage update? Thanks for your help.
