Has anyone noticed that when you select the "startup disk" under OSX, you will lose yaboot. There is no option to "exit without saving"! Once you open it, yaboot is overwritten and you have to get a gentoo liveCD to restore it.

Does anyone have any idea how to keep that from happening? It's always possible that one can accidentally go into the "startup disk".

You can boot into Linux again by holding down the option key and selecting the Linux drive. I'm not sure how to stop OSX from doing that.

it doesn't clobber it. what happens is that when you select an os x startupdisk in system preferences it re-writes the default boot device in openfirmware. all you have to do is either do what JoseJX said, or boot into openfirmware and manually reset the default boot disk to your yaboot partition.

Well, maybe "clobber" was too strong but that's still not the most desirable behavior but option key does lesses the severity. I must have missed that somewhere when I was reading about PPC.

Thanks.
