can anyone help with pbbuttons ? it wants to sleep every minute
most annoying
i looked at the log file and there is this
Dec 26 23:43:53 ibook pbbuttonsd: INFO: Soundsystem requested: none and at least activated: none.

but the sound works fine. pbbuttonsd.conf has /dev/mixer in it and its there in /dev

or is there another deamon that can do backlight control and sleep ?

It might be your battery, the sleep thing.

It's not a daemon, but look here:

its just the sleep that i need fixed, i use it all the time.

i dont think its the battery

osx works fine
and gentoo works fine if i stop the pbbuttons deamon. (dimming works, but no sleep)

also i remember pbbuttons acting really funnny if the sound isnt there, like when i installed gentoo and set up pbbuttons before i did the sound. spent alot of time trying to figure out that pbbuttons doesnt work withut sound? very strange.

You're probably missing the input event device nodes. Check /dev/input/ and make sure that there are nodes for the input event devices.

Everything you use pbbuttonsd for can be configured without it.

Afaik, you can't easily duplicate the sleep functionality of pbbuttonsd.

Matt, can you please check your kernel config to make sure that these are enabled:

CONFIG_SYSVIPC
CONFIG_INPUT_EVDEV
CONFIG_I2C_KEYWEST

Was it working before? Did you change your kernel version?

all 3 are enabled. it has been working till about 2 weeks ago when i started upgrading gentoo. it was sometime after i emerged --upgrade world. i am guessing it was one of those packages. the kernel was not changed when it quit working, i have since upgraded and recompiled the kernel.

thanks

A lot has changed between 6.6 and 7.2, they're not ABI compatible. Try backing down to 0.7.1 first.

0.7.1 does not work, no sound found and it went to sleep after a min. also /etc/init.d.pbbuttonsd stop or zap didnt stop 0.0.6. i had to ps and kill -9 pid.

then i started 0.7.1
