Hi all,

My problem is in topic, I got DRM in 16 bits, but when I switch in 24bits, arf, glxinfo give me Direct renderer=no.

My computer is an Ibook G3 500Mhz with ATI rage 128 (r128 loaded).

Interesting. I have a Powerbook Pismo G3 with more or less identical specs to your iBook, and had always assumed I was running in 24 bit. Now that I look closer, I see that direct rendering is on, but at 16 bit.

My xorg.conf is nearly identical to yours: I don't have the AGPMode option and my scanline is slightly different.

I shall be following this topic with some interest.

Hi.

First, for AGP, if you don't put this line, AGP run in 1X (I don't think the gain is huge, but....)

Second, 16 bits mode is pretty poor, my XFCE desktop is very nice in 24Bits, but I must re-run Xorg in 16 bits to play tronGL !!!

In fact, 16 bits mode is the default with Xautoconfig (for my G3 !)

Another question : Does last Oniroco drivers works with Airport NON extreme ? And anyone got an Airport NON extreme to sell ?? :-) (Damned 150€ in my apple corner !)

The card doesn't have enough memory to do 24 bit DRI. Most Rage128 cards have only 8Mb of video memory, you need about 10Mb to do 24 bit DRI.

OK, I figured this would be a good time to try out the new Xorgautoconfig. Alas, this is what it says in the xorg.conf it generates:
