This tip only helps people that use modular X, if you are not sure if you use it then you don't use it.

If you use modular X you can have the problem that "emerge -NDvua world" (and other emerge commands) throws errors.
You can fix this by running:
Code:
cp /usr/portage/virtual/x11/x11-6.8.ebuild /usr/portage/virtual/x11/x11-7.0.ebuild
and changing the '<' in the last line of x11-7.0.ebuild to a '>'. If you then run
Code:
ebuild /usr/portage/virtual/x11/x11-7.0.ebuild digest
your emerge commands will work again.

If modular X get's stable (unmasked) then remove /usr/portage/virtual/x11/x11-7.0.ebuild and /usr/portage/virtual/x11/files/digest-x11-7.0

I prefere the following approach:
Code:
mkdir -p /etc/portage/profile
echo -ne "virtual/x11\tx11-base/xorg-x11\n">>/etc/portage/profile/virtuals

cheers
